On-sale

The on-sale is the moment tickets become available to the public, often after one or more presales.

Also called: on sale date, general on-sale, public on-sale

Definition

Promoters announce an on-sale date and time; presales for fan clubs, sponsors or venue lists may run before it. Counts are usually tracked from the first presale, and the first 24 hours of the general on-sale are a key pace signal.

Worked example

Presale Wednesday 10:00, general on-sale Friday 10:00: the agent asks for counts at the end of each day.

In a TicketCounts.io report

A daily TicketCounts.io report for the show gives recipients the count and the change since the previous report every day, so they can follow the first days of the on-sale.
