Ticket sales pace calculator

Sales pace is tickets sold ÷ days on sale. To sell out, you need tickets left ÷ days until the show, every day. Enter your dates and your latest count to see both, the projected final count and the date a sell-out lands at the current pace.

How do you calculate ticket sales pace?

Count the whole days since the on-sale and divide tickets sold by them: that is your sales pace. Then divide the tickets left in your capacity by the days until the show: that is the pace a sell-out needs. When the first number is lower than the second, the show is behind.

Days on sale
Count date − on-sale date

Whole calendar days. A count on the on-sale day is measured over 1 day.

Days to show
Show date − count date

A count on the show day leaves 1 selling day.

Current pace
Tickets sold ÷ days on sale
Pace to sell out
(Capacity − tickets sold) ÷ days to show

Rounded up to whole tickets a day.

Projected final count
Tickets sold + current pace × days to show

Capped at capacity.

Projected sell-out date
Count date + (capacity − tickets sold) ÷ current pace

Rounded up to a whole day.

Sell-through
Tickets sold ÷ capacity × 100

Worked example: 28 days out, 212 of 500 sold

On sale Fri 21 Aug 2026, show Fri 16 Oct 2026, counted Fri 18 Sep 2026. Illustrative numbers, not a real show.

  1. Days on sale: 28. Days to show: 28.
  2. Current pace: 212 ÷ 28 = 7.6 tickets a day
  3. Pace to sell out: (500212) ÷ 28 = 10.3, so 11 tickets a day
  4. Projected final count: 212 + 7.6 × 28424 (84.8% of cap)
  5. Sell-out at this pace: 39 days from the count, which is after the show
  6. 42.4% sold with 50% of the on-sale window gone

How do I read the result?

Compare the share of tickets sold with the share of the on-sale that has passed, and the current pace with the pace a sell-out needs. A gap early on can close with an announcement or a marketing push; recalculate at every count so you see the trend, not one number.

Questions

How do you calculate ticket sales pace?

Divide tickets sold by the days tickets have been on sale. 212 tickets in 28 days is a pace of 7.6 tickets a day. To see a recent trend, use the change between two counts divided by the days between them.

Sales pace: definition

How many tickets a day do I need to sell out?

Divide the tickets left by the days until the show. 288 tickets left with 28 days to go needs 10.3 a day, which is 11 a day in whole tickets.

How accurate is a straight-line projection?

It assumes the current pace holds until the show. Announcements, marketing pushes and the last days before a show can all change the pace, so treat the projection as a baseline and recalculate at every count.
