Settlement

Settlement is the accounting after a show that turns ticket revenue, expenses and the deal terms into what the artist and promoter are each paid.

Also called: show settlement, settling the show, settlement sheet

Last updated

Definition

At settlement the promoter (or venue) and the artist representative agree the final ticket count against the manifest, the gross and net box office, the agreed expenses and the deal, then sign a settlement sheet. Accurate counts during the on-sale make settlement faster.

Formula

Show net = NBOR − agreed show expenses

Worked example

NBOR of $9,500 less $4,000 of expenses leaves a show net of $5,500; the versus deal on the settlement sheet turns that into the artist payment.

Illustrative numbers, not a real show.

In a TicketCounts.io report

TicketCounts.io reports show ticket counts, not revenue, so they are not a settlement sheet. Settle against the final count and the manifest from your ticketing platform.
